Fantastic Beasts

The original Fantastic Beasts textbook, ‘written’ by Newt Scamander, represents the fruit of his many years of travel and research. It is a spin-off of and prequel to the Harry Potter film series. 80% of the profits from the book went to Comic Relief, a charity based in Great Britain. For his role in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Eddie Redmayne spent time in the wilderness tracking wild animals to learn more about them.

Fantastic Beasts has a connection to real American history. Many of the American laws surrounding magic are derived from the Salem Witch Trials of the 1690s.

Some interesting facts about The Fantastic Beasts:

1. Newt is a Hufflepuff. He pays homage to his Hogwarts house by wearing a gray and yellow scarf in the last scene of the movie.

2. J.K Rowling created a new word “Choranaptyxic” for the film.

3. Newt’s never-ending briefcase uses the same charm as Hermione’s carpet bag. That charm is the “Undetectable Extension Charm”.
