If you are familiar with the term K-pop, you must have heard of Blackpink as well. In general, K-pop defines Korean popular music. K-pop is the mainstream music that originates from South Korea.

The Band

Talking about Blackpink, the famous Korean music band’s name is all about the contradiction of colors. According to their brand label YG Entertainment, the name Blackpink stands to contradict the typical perception of ‘pink’ color. In 2016, when Blackpink started their journey with YG Entertainment, they were initially dubbed “the new 2NE1”. They then proved to be completely different from the previous Korean girl music groups in no time.

The Members

One unique thing about the members of Blackpink is their fluency in multiple languages. Because each member originated from different backgrounds, their music got a shape tailored to various languages and tones. Jennie and Rose, who were brought up in New Zealand and Australia, are fluent in English. Lisa, too is fluent in English, however being originally from Thailand, she is excellent in the Thai language. Jisoo is the only member who was born and grew up in South Korea is not fluent in English. Although, she is fluent in Chinese besides her mother tongue.

Apart from their fluency in various languages, they have achieved global success for many other reasons. Since the emerge of Blackpink, they have achieved many milestones, including performing at Coachella in 2019. No doubt, with their mind-blowing beauty and talent, every Blackpink member has garnered an enormous fan following in a short time.
